Wondering now whether to have 2 rest days and thus run 3 times a week, or 1 rest day and keep the pattern of every other day. What do others do as a general rule?
Bit scared of moving on to week 2. There’s a lot about this running malarkey that’s psychological isn’t there?
Thanks for all the support and encouragement thus far 😊

Do what is right for you and your life style.. some folk run Monday..Wed... Fri for example and have the weekend free for family etc.. others are different again lifestyle
My pattern has nearly always been, run on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday ( unless training for a race)..but now I have small runner in training ( granddaughter) Tuesday and Wednesday, I have to tweak things
One rest day at least, between runs is the rule as you know
Did you check out the FAQ for Newbies? Loads of great advice for you there... if you have completed your runs you are going to be fine.
Take it steadily and slowly, and know that each run makes you stronger and you will be ready for each week that comes
Hi MummyTum, I’m at the same point as you. Am very proud of myself for even getting this far due to my hate of running but, I guess it depends on your lifestyle and what you can fit into your week. I wouldn’t be able to commit to every other day but have written the days I can do onto the calendar and into my phone so I don’t arrange anything on my run days that would stop me doing it. I had 2 rest days before my second run which probably wasn’t a great idea looking back as I’d have used any excuse not to do it but, having finished week 1, I feel more positive about week 2. Well done for completing a week. Everyone keeps telling me it’s all in the head and I’m sure they’re right. 😉
Hi congratulations on completing week 1 and welcome.
From the beginning I have stuck to Tuesday Thursday and 1 weekend day which has now become Parkrun Saturday morning. As the runs got longer I really appreciated the 2 day rests. I do strength exercises other days but Sunday is a complete rest day.
Week 2 will be fine you are ready for it. You’ve done the hardest part by getting started.
I ran C25K on alternate days, apart from a blip in the middle.
Do what suits you. Do be aware that as the duration increases in the latter weeks you may need more than a single rest day between runs. C25K weeks don't have to coincide with calendar weeks.
