Running pains? Not so sure now.

I graduated a couple weeks ago. Just lately my joints, in particular my knees & legs are so achy & painful to the extent i'm popping painkillers on a daily basis. But, i'm wondering now if it's down to the running afterall. For the last few months I've been having hot flushed & extreme bouts of tiredness. Could these pains be 'menopausal arthritis?' Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I think you should discuss with GP. Number of things it could be, of which menopause is one.

Well done with your running. Fitness is great and will help with what ever lies behind the aches. It may have something to do with thyroid levels or menopause. Either can be helped so ask your GP and if your able carry on with some running. Here's to less achy joints :)

I'd definitely check with the GP - it could be all sorts of things, most of which can be easily sorted out. You could have low iron levels, for example.

For what it's worth, now that my limbs are getting a regular pounding I take a Glucosomine supplement which is supposed to be good for your joints. Also a calcium supplement as I don't drink milk and I was advised that calcium intake is very important "at my age" (I'm 45).

Running and other exercise have helped with my aches and pains to the extent that I sometimes forget to take my prescription Tramadol.

Ditto seeing the GP. I have had non-specific achey joint pains, tiredness and flushing - I found that doubling my intake of omega 3s - in my case oily fish - helped stop the symptoms. Might work for you ...
