Its not something I'm bothered with very often but what type of socks are you wearing? It may be that the material they are made of doesn't suit your skin. I buy good running socks 'MoreMile' from Amazon which are fitted to the shape of your foot, a right and left sock (they mold) so there are no loose excesses to rub and cause blisters. So perhaps check your socks first.
Surgical Spirit dabbed on the areas which you have problems with will also help harden the skin and toughen it up. Hope this helps.

never had blisters luckily but was advised to buy "running" socks when I bought my first pair of trainers from sports direct & did. I paid £3 or £4 for 2 pairs of ankle karrimor running socks. they are cushioned in lots of places & quite thick & "wick" the moisture away which I thinks helps to prevent friction blisters.
definitely look at a couple of pairs of running socks but in the meantime those "happy feet" gel things from scholl I think are quite good if the blister is at the bottom of your foot.
hope you heal quickly X

I've always been fine with the Karrimor running socks, no blisters until I did a longer (9km) run, when I got a nasty blood blister under my toenail. I treated myself to some double-layered socks from RunBreeze (via Amazon). I think the idea is that the friction occurs between the two layers of sock, rather than against your skin. They're very comfy and my 10k race on Sunday was completely discomfort-free (for my feet, anyway !) Next time you buy shoes they should be a half-size bigger than normal as your feet expand when running any distance.
Years ago I used to use surgical spirit - very effective but I just haven't needed it recently.

How about a couple of pairs of new socks for a fiver?

You can get a decent pair of trainers for about 40 quid!
I got a horrendous blister after getting some new running shoes and socks. Ouch. Sorted that one out with blister plasters, they are immense. Now I always wear two pairs of socks, with the inside one being ones that are tight and elasticated around the bottom of my foot. I also tie my laces tight. Now the trainers are broken in and all possible friction areas seem to be sorted I'm happy. Think I will buy some proper running socks soon.
cover your feet in a good foot cream before putting on your socks works every time!

You might find it helps to change how you lace your shoes so your feet can't move about so much - there are some tips here:

A few things to try:
-Wear running socks
-If you don't have running socks and can't buy any, wear two pairs of normal socks to stop your shoes rubbing so much
-If you always get blisters on one particular area (e.g. the back of your heel) put a plaster on there before you go running
Thanks guys, this is great advice!
