I did it! I can't believe it!! Thanks so much to everyone for your encouragement. I never in a million years thought this would ever be possible when I huffed and puffed my old fat body for the 60 seconds in week 1! Well that same fat old body just ran 5k without stopping :))) And I even stuck my arms ot in a 'crossing the finish line' style when I finished and didn't give a hoot what anyone thought!
Ok, so it took 39 minutes, so the time needs a little work, but today I honestly dont care!
Good luck to everyone and keep it going, it really does work!!

Great result, congratulations. I'm still working on reducing my time but it does take time. You know the old saying, "Don't try and run before you can walk" well this saying applies to our running "Don't try and fly before you can do the distance"!! now you can do the distance you can speed up the time gradually. All the very best PootlePower job well done, we oldies can still learn new tricks.
That's fantastic, well done. I can just picture the triumphant 'finish line' style and just hope I will be doing the same thing in a couple of months time. I've just done my first run of week 2 and it was hard, but you have really made me smile and feel 'I can do this' again.
Fantastic!! Well done you - that time is really good. When you think of trying to run for 30 mins initially that is quite an unbelievable achievement, you are now running for 9 mins more so think of that. That is a huge increase in time from the increments that we were doing with Laura.
Your time will get faster, but, hats off to you. I run around the recreation ground in the village and my 'finish' (arms up in the air, waving them around) is done through the rugby posts!! I go out at 6.30am, don't see anyone but sometimes I wonder if someone is looking out of their window thinking 'what is that mad, very red faced bat doing?!'
Well done you!!!! Did you have the theme tune from 'Rocky' going through your ears when you finished?....I know I heard it just when reading your blog! congratulations!
