Did do exercise dvd, and stuck to weight loss plan, how did other first week folk get on.
So want to do this couch to 5k, but just could... - Couch to 5K
So want to do this couch to 5k, but just could not get the nerve up, was all togged up, but bottled it.
Try again tomorrow, you can do it. The first run is the hardest. Good luck
What made you bottle? You know it's not scary .. Just see it as going out for some fun?... No expectations?
There is nothing to fear and so much more than you can imagine to gain, just by getting that first run under your belt. Whatever it is that is holding you back...let's face it, it is only you... needs to step aside and allow you to go out there and change your life. Only you can do it.....only you can stop you from doing it. The folks on this forum will support, advise and guide you through, because we all know what a brilliant training plan this is and we love seeing another runner join our ranks.
You CAN do it. Tell us how you get on. Good luck.
what happened??
There is always tomorrow. We have all been there. think of the achievement for 2014 and go for it.
Well it's my first week and I know what you mean. I got worked up to the point I thought this is not worth it! Then I thought give it a go & go for it. So I did. And if you do I don't think you'll regret it!! Just take it nice and easy. Bet you'll feel great.
Let me tell you are not alone Probably the majority of us felt really nervous/ scared before the first run Why don't you just go now and lay out all your running stuff ready for tomorrow and decide what time you are going to run Then just say to yourself ' ok I ll just go out and try the first 1 min walk / run and then .... Ok I might just try the next walk/ run and then.... Just go really slow and you might surprise yourself Like the other folk say wk1run1 is the hardest step There is lots of support on here and we all want you to succeed Go on give it a go
you know what, we have all been there, so we really understand. That first step out the door stops that feeling and it will never be as bad as you think its going to be. I wouldn't be surprised if your first outing you join us proud members, of the beetroot smiling club. There are a lot of us about. we go out, run, get beetroot faced and smile at our achievements. It really doesn't matter whether the run goes well or not because there will always be the next one so take some pressure off and get ready to smile after the outing.
biscuitbear you're not alone.
It took me a year to cancel my gym membership and a health scare to start this plan.
I ran around the block on the first week, I felt conscious. The neighbours must off thought I was a prat!
Now I'm running alongside the Olympic Park in the open air and putting my thumbs up to other runners along my route. It's amazing how far I've come.
You can do it, we're right behind you.
Just listen to Laura, have your rest days and see yourself become a runner.
If you feel you haven't done so well, go back and do it again. I have done this several times.
You will feel the difference once you begin.

Biscuitbear, I'm a restart from being a fairly regular runner in 2012 and I was scared on my first run. It's totally normal.
The first 5 minutes are a walk - get our and walk. You won't bottle after you've been out for 5 min
Getting out there is the hardest bit, but no one will pay you any great attention out there.
I used to sneak out to the playing field and didn't tell anyone that I was doing the plan for the first three weeks in case I couldn't do it. Now I am happy to puff and pant right through the village and just feel so smug and good afterwards even though the going is still tough sometimes. Can't shut up about what I am doing either these days!
What is the worst that can happen? You don't manage it all at first go- so what? The next time out will be better and you've already done more than you have before.
Go for it tomorrow and let us know how it goes. Good luck!
Honestly, no-one will give you a second glance if that is what is worrying you. Courage mon brave! Put on a silly hat and go for it. You will be amazed at how good it feels to complete the runs, and how much better you will feel in yourself.
Hi Biscuitbear
What is it that you are worried about? I did all of the first 5 weeks in the evenings, when it was dark as I didn't want anyone to see me so you could try that. Just take a deep breath and go for it. Once you get the first run under your belt you will feel fab. You have so much to gain by doing this programme, you need to grab it by the throat and give it a go. Have fun with it and good luck!
That first step outside the door is the hardest, followed by the first time you go from a walk to a run. But the truth is a) they ain't that hard after all and b) despite what you might think beforehand, no-one outside takes a blind bit of notice. We've all been there, worried about starting, but it's definitely worth it. Shove the demon back in the bottle, kick the monkey off your shoulder and give it another go - there is a whole invisible army of us cheering you on :). Listen; can you hear us? Yep, that's us!!
I was scared as I'd never run before but I felt like I really wanted to, and that was driving me. I thought I'd look an idiot, collapse and have to be airlifted to hospital, my husband would split his sides laughing, I would split my running pants and die of embarassment, I would burst my lungs with fatigue, I would dribble or worse! It's scary unchartered waters for new runners, but you're a grown-up, you have bottle, you have guts.Get out there tomorrow and we'll be with you. Think about us lot being there with you, fussing round you, helping you with your laces, and running after you cos you forgot your water. Let us know how you get on won't you!
When you first set out it is a bit daunting. I was worried about what other people would think but I bought a cap that I pulled down low, focussed on Laura and kept eyes front and imagined I was alone. 7 months on and I still do it like this. You will be fine ; )
