Sometimes you just have to compromise...

I know, I KNOW it was supposed to be a nine mile long run today; however, having to move one son out of his uni digs, and be about to cook dinner for him, hubby and another son who is visiting on his way up to Southampton, take a pile of rubbish from our loft clear out to the tip, not to mention compete fiercely with hubby in our Putting on the Hoe in Plymouth yearly challenge, meant some sort of compromise was necessary. For my sanity, I needed to run. To be about for the family, it had to fit in with everything else.

So, after moving son out of uni digs, we took the rubbish to the tip, then, off to Plymouth for some putting on the Hoe. Me dressed (feeling rather strange) in full running kit with a hoodie on top. After our games (which I lost 5-1, whatever lol, at least OH is happy), I changed my shoes to my magic brooks (haha I WISH!), got the Garmin on, the mp3 in the back pocket, the water, kissed hubby goodbye, and headed off to run home (from the Hoe in Plymouth, to Saltash). This we calculated at about 6 miles, long enough to keep me happy, short enough not to spend too long away from the bosom of family lol.

It seemed a very hot run, having to watch out for city traffic, traffic lights, traffic fumes...urgh. More uphill than downhill as the elevation data will prove (about 37metres). Not helped by the fact that the last half a mile seemed straight uphill. I was intending to beat the hour but in the end, the moving time says just 3 seconds over; now THAT is annoying lol. Still, the chart was generous and gave me the 6.2mph.

Stats if you're curious: connect.garmin.com/activity...

The 6.2miles clocked up on the Garmin less than half a mile from home, so I stopped the timer there, walked for half a minute to get my breathing back under control, then slow jogged home.

Compromise, I'm happy, they're happy...and someone has prepped all the cottage pie veg for me, so I'm now off to cook dinner.

Lovely! The thought of you just doing a 6.2 mile run! Seems impossible to me at the moment! Glad you had all bases covered. Think the winner of the putting challenge should make dinner tho! :)

Phew, you call that a compromise!!! In awe of your juggling skills. Hope someone else does the washing up.

Yup RhonaL, someone did do the washing up. Cottage pie for them, fish pie for me, garlic bread (because I think I deserved it!) and freshly baked hazelnut and chocolate muffins...yum.
