The first step...

After finding out about these podcasts a little while ago I found many reasons not to do them, and spent ages reading all the inspiring blogs here, far more time than I would've taken actually doing a run. However finally, I did the first run and I am so pleased I did. It's a bit hilly round here and it did seem that every time the 1 minute running part came along so did a hill, but I just remembered all the sage words on here and went at a steady pace and although the last two runs were really quite hard I did it!

I just wish I could bottle the enthusiasm I feel just now so that I could use that to help me in two days when it comes time for run 2!

Brilliant! Good start! You may curse the hills all the way through the programme but I have found Iam much stronger because of them. I hate the hill every time but it has stood me in good stead and helps with the stamina. Good luck to you :)

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...

Good job YOU! You're off the couch and on your way!

There will be times when you wonder ... but you already know where to come for encouragement (or a kick in the ....). Keep up the good work!

Well done for taking the first steps :)

Hills are the work of the devil! ;)

Thank you hollyO, Grammadog1947 and Anonymous36 for your encouragement! It's a lovely forum, so welcoming and helpful. I feel a little like I'm in a whole new world at the moment as I joined WW online two months ago and for the first time in my life I've stuck to a diet and lost over a stone so far, so C25K is my next huge challenge. It's really exciting if daunting, and my dogs will love it too!

You have started your journey and I can feel your excitement. Well done on the weight loss. The dogs help me get out of the door - one of my labs literally pogos when he sees me putting on my trainers ...

Brilliant, well done! The hills are definitely good for you, and you'll find that you walk a bit further for the first 5 minutes, so then the hills might end up being your recoveries!

Good luck for the rest of the program!

Thanks RhonaL (love the thought of a pogo-ing lab!), Aytriaris and Deryn61 - I'll think of you all next time I'm staggering up the hills...!

Oh Suki well done, hills on your first run, thats amazing even though you can't avoid them. I planned my first routes to miss all ups and regret it even now.

I also found the first week the worst, thought I was dying the first run, couldn't breathe, nose ran, legs ached, turned beetroot red, huh and I still went back for more :)

Good luck, you'll do well with a name like suki (brothers spaniel dog was suki) she ran like the wind.

Thank you, I get the bright red face too! I certainly don't run like the wind, more like a tortoise, but I can dream.

Yay - Run 2 just done! Hard but not too hard. I wish the hills weren't so brutal, sometimes I feel like I'm not actually going forward just running on the spot, but at least I'm running. Sort of. I've got another friend doing C25K now, just wish she was near here, but I felt cheered by the encouraging souls on here and that made me smile through gritted teeth while battling the hills!
