Wow!10 k!

I finished week 7 on friday and I have the weekend as rest days. I feel like I could run miles and miles today, but when I run tomorrow I will only manage the podcast!

It must be amazing to run 10k, good luck and enjoy the race. I did a 3 k funrun last weekend and it wasn't my best run but it made me feel amazing and like a superhero!

You don't need to taper as such for a 10k race - I will be running 10k the weekend before mine then doing a couple of 5k runs during the week before the actual race. With a half you tend to only taper for a week (two at most) but a 10k isn't the same kind of length of race so you don't need the full taper. I'd just take it a bit easy in the week before the actual race and do a couple of shorter runs just to keep your legs in

Go you Rockshammer! That's amazing! I think you should taper for about four days before and eat lots of carbs to load up for energy.... Not that I'm an expert, just what I've heard! Good luck!

Amanda's right on I think you don't really need a taper per se for a 10k.

Keep going as normal up to a week before, make sure you have one or two more 10k or thereabouts runs under your belt then a couple of low stress looseners in the week before - maybe a couple of slow 5ks?

Hope your knee is OK.
