W11 - I'm not doing it ...

'Oh go on', I urged Poppy, 'you'll like it when you get outside.'

"I'm not doing it, I want to be a couch 2 warm bed dog".

'I've been reading Lucylocket10's blog, now is not the time to lose confidence, we're c25k graduates and should know better. If we go now it won't be too hot and the grass might still be wet, the sooner we go the less people there'll be to see us.'

"They'll laugh at my funny haircut, I said I didn't want my hair trimmed at home, groomers know what they're doing, little girls with clippers don't".

'Look, I'll be wearing Mirella's running trousers (thank you!) so my legs will be on show for the first time.'

"Have they got a pocket for dog treats?"

'Yes, and poo bags. I should be able to squeeze Laura in there too'.

"Where's my lead?"

It's been difficult getting motivated this last couple of weeks, I found some nice music of my own and teamed up with Noom app for an enjoyable run but after a week's break couldn't make the distance, I was a bit despondent and Poppy has been getting bored with short walks and pottering round the home. Back to w9 and Laura. Noom was keen, according to him I'd been running for 55 hours and burnt 237 calories. Having forgotten to switch him off after the last run he ran out of energy and left me so I didn't know how far I'd gone. There's something about the c25k podcasts and Laura that keep me going at the right pace and to the end. We certainly don't get to 5k, maybe nearer 3, but running 3k over half an hour has got to be better than not running at all? Not having the pressure of reaching a particular distance is easier too, just enjoy the run.

We ran in the rain for the first time last week, running trousers are great, warm but not sweaty. "Hope you're not running that dog into the ground" call the dog walking group as I huff past. Must look like a real runner now then? Distracted, I splash through a puddle and realise that my shoes are not only breathable but permeable too. My feet are soaked and I realise that running socks will probably be next on the list. Poppy runs round the puddles but through the mud, she's so grubby she'll have to have a bath afterwards. I'm sure Poppy's grinning at me - 'I've got four paws to get clean after this, you just take your wet socks off, well now you know what it's like, I think you need to take me to the groomers, it'll be better in the long run ...'. I'm not sure I'm ready for long runs ...

I think some days running just works and other days it doesn't but whatever we achieve is so much more than sitting around at home! I went out for a run yesterday and only managed 2 miles including a bit of walking in the middle - but it was hot, the farmer had re-gravelled the farm track so it was difficult to run on and I'd been to running club the night before, so there were a number of factors against me having a good run - but at least I ran!

Hope Poppy is coping ok with her diy haircut - that made me laugh!

Love your posts!

It is hard to stay motivated isn't it? I am using the early weeks podcasts to do some interval type training but the music just seems to get worse every time! Mainly now just going out with my garmin and music to keep an eye on how far/long I have gone, which isn't very far :(

I am really looking forward to the new Laura podcasts coming out, hopefully with better music. Even though I have no intention of trying to run 10k it might help make the 5k quicker and easier??? :)

first time I did C25K I used Laura's podcasts but at week 5 I switched over to Robert Ullrey's podcast and find that the music (totally unknown type of music to me) really spur me on so that I was I am using for the C25K this time. I found him through cool running website last year.

My dog, Boshie, has completely given up on running. Earlier this week she started limping on the warm up walk. I brought her back home and started off again on my own. She was absolutely fine later, so I reckon she was putting the limp on to get out of the run!

Then last run she was fine, but limped all night after it (a different leg to the one before)

So, I've come to the conclusion that she will have to just have a simple doggie walk and not the run.

Her paw is fine again now, by the way (I don't want any dog lovers worrying!)

But I've lost my running buddy :(
