A couple of years? Hell yeah that's achievable once you see the progress you will make over 9 weeks. It is amazing how quickly the body can adapt if you put the time and effort in. You might be pushing it for this year, though if you're driven enough I'm sure you could manage it, but I would say next year you would be able to breeze it. Come back in 7 weeks time and let me know if I'm right!

I thought you were going to say you were doing it next month!

Can't see any.issues at all with your aspiration so long as you stay healthy and motivated. Good running sir!

Do it! I graduated in Feb and I'm doing the Great North Run in September!

It depends on your target as well, if you want to do a really good time you will probably need more time to build up to that. I'm just aiming to raise money and get round in one piece!

...and I want a medal :)

Totally agree with all the above - but I'd add that it would be good to sign up for some shorter races in the meantime. It'll keep you motivated and it's worth getting used to the atmosphere of running with a crowd!

NB I graduated in March and am doing a 10k in 2 weeks, plus a half-marathon in September :-)
