The past days I woke up at 6am without an alarm. Looks like my body got used to the getting up early for work and also for the runs on my days off the past two weeks. Not that I'm complaining. I made good use of it and went out at 7.45 instead of 8am today.
As a last second decision I changed my route from the one I used the past weeks to one around the lake. The first walking bit it's paved streets, then a gravel road (but very hard so very good to run) around the first hundred meters around the lake and then it's off into the woods. Only, that I forgot about the last bit! So when i was a few seconds into the first 5-minute run I was hopping over roots and trying not to trip or twist my ankle and the narrow path. On one hand the ground was soft and good to run on, on the other hand I had to dodge roots and branches. But at least that distracted me from thinking "5 minutes is really long!". I guess I'll take that route again on Saturday!
On the way home I had to ran past my house and was really tired by then. The warm-down walk consisted of maybe a minute afterwards.
I made it through the five minutes okay. Only the last seconds the thought of "Oh God, I have to do this for another 3 minutes in two weeks!" was creeping up and I have to say, I'm not happy about that! 8 minutes seems really hard from the perspective of w4/r2!
And I also learnt that for those 8 minute runs (or even the one after the next on) I'll have to find another - longer - route. But at least this way I get to see my village from another perspective!
Have a good Thursday, everyone!
