Treadmill dizziness / motion sickness?

hello all

To avoid excuses in winter I bought a treadmill so I can run inside every couple of days. However when I come off it I feel incredibly faint and dizzy. Does anyone have experience of this? I suspect it’s a kind of motion sickness. Any advice welcome!

thanks.

Well, you may get some answers here, but the dizziness could be caused by so, so many things... Low blood pressure, over exertion , vertigo and dehydration are among the possible causes.

BUT, none of us here are medical experts, so...if this is happening, every time...please do go and get expert help. Your GP, is your first port of call, and will help to determine why this is happening.

Do, please keep us posted !

As Oldfloss says your dizziness could have various causes (I'd add stopping too abruptly) and consulting a health professional is advisable. Especially since your bio mentions "issues with palpitations."

I did at first on mine- now I slow it down gradually on the last cool down walk and that's fine. It can be motion sickness from stopping too fast, but always worth getting BP checked etc anyway.

Maybe it's to do with the fact that your body is moving but it's not! Your eyes see everything as still static, yet your brain can't compute why you're moving but your eyes are telling it you're not. My husband has the same experience, and has given up with the treadmill, preferring to run outside. Don't know.

In addition to the good advice from everyone else, you may be trying to run too fast? The couch 2 5k programme should be run at conversation pace, which is far easier to test at home than when you are in a gym. 😂. Also, do the 5 min warm up walk and after run walk on your treadmill but slowing the walk gradually.

Sorry to hear about your dizziness. Definitely see your healthcare provider to get to the bottom of your symptoms.

I get similar symptoms after the treadmill, even though I do a cool down walk. I have to sit down for a moment while my lightheadedness passes! Not sure what it is as I never feel like that when I run out of doors 🥴
