Today I completed my first 5k fun run. I haven't trained properly for about three weeks but I was determined to do my best.
After a last minute pit stop (old lady bladder) I went out a bit hard. Found my pace at about the 1k mark and kept it steady. Half way up the big hill I felt like throwing up and decided walking a bit would be a good move. Then the last 2k flew by in a haze and the final sprint past the stands (and my lovely family) which I'm sure looked more like a stumble than the gazelle I was aiming for. The blessed finish line and, in big red digital numbers 32.40 minutes!
After briefly contemplating falling over and throwing up I gave my tag back and had a drink. When I rejoined my family they were beaming and i got heaps of hugs. The best part? I ran my hardest and gave my all and considering the struggles I've had to get here... I'm a runner!
