Wet running

I'm ashamed to say I used to scoff at people running in the rain. However, a couple if hours ago I was determined to start my 2nd week run 1 so I went in the pouring rain! And do you know what? I found it so exhilarating! So, I take back all I used to say.

I think I have been out in the rain more than the dry! I need need a kick from the lovely people on here earlier though, I was very tempted to skip it. Glad I didn't though :-)

I have (despite living in South Wales!) been fortunate enough not to have to have run in heavy rain yet, just a drizzle but I loved it! My (by now infamous?) seven times marathon running (blah blah blah . .) sis swears by running in the rain as it helps her stay cooler allegedly!

Am intrigued! I can imagine the rain would drive me on with the running bit but it's too cold in Edinburgh so start the 5 min warm up if it's raining too. Do you do the initial walk around the house? :)

It's great fun, and after a while it really doesn't matter how you wet you are.

I had a really awful first run in the rain in week 4 so when it came to doing my week 5 run 3 (20 mins non-stop) I really wanted to bag it but it was heavy rain and windy. I decided to wuss out and rang round all my local gyms trying to find one who could do an emergency induction (!) so I could do it on the treadmill in the warm and dry. Upshot was that nowhere could so I decided that something was better than nothing and went out in my Kagool with no expectations of finishing. I surprised myself as I enjoyed it and ended up running through the 5 mins cool down too so I had to stay out for longer to do a cool down too.

At least now I know I can enjoy running in blustery rain so I did the same again yesterday but didn't find that run as easy. The weather won't stop me. However it goes I crave that high I feel after getting out and doing something. Hard to believe that 6 weeks ago the thought of running gave me a feeling of dread. Now I'm hooked!
