I am new to running and now need to invest in a sports bra. I have noticed that Lidl have them on offer this week, has anyone had one from here and if so are they any good.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

I have 2 girls who are d or dd cup & the only bras which support them when they jumped up & down were by "shock absorber". my girls did not get their bust from me & as a b cup the one for me was by "moving comfort".
I asked the same question a while ago
couchto5k.healthunlocked.co...
good luck in your hunt for one
Thanks for the advice by the sounds of things its the 'shock absorber' im going to need
Not sure about the Lidl ones I will try to look tomorrow, as I need a new one. I got one of the "crop top" type ones in a sale, which fitted quite tightly but didn't quite cut it so I wear one of my standard underwired jobs with the crop top on top which pins everything down and keeps it all facing in the same direction! -works quite well and is comfortable but reads more like an engineering solution than a discussion about running gear!
I can't comment on the Lidl bra specifically, but would certainly advise to shop around and invest in a really good sports bra. I'm a FF girl and it's Shock Absorber all the way for me. Bought mine from Debenhams, after being measured for first time in ages.
Personally i go for the double whammy -sports bra and lycra crop top. Not a jiggle! In the right bra i'm more than happy to go trotting around my neighbourhood with my head held high!
Whatever sports bra you buy, double check on the packaging that it's specifically designed for high impact sport. Happy shopping
Shock Absorber bras are brilliant and they have a design which is specifically for runners. They reckon they reduce 'bounce' by 74% whereas a normal bra will reduce bounce by less than 40%.
I used to wear M & S sports bras and thought they were supportive until I tried the Shock Absorber Run bra on a female sports coach's recommendation. They're more expensive (RRP £37 but you may find cheaper on ebay/Amazon, etc) but the difference is amazing. You could always go to a store to try on and find your size and then order off the internet as you can't assume that your normal bra size will apply to a Shock Absorber. Think I went up a cup size compared to my normal bras. They're worth it to avoid posture and back problems. Just check out the hundreds of positive reviews for them online.
Just bought 2 from marks and spencer £18 each, new on the market underwired shock absorber, and not ones you have to shove over your head, they are great, come in 3 colours, well worth it.
I am also a fan of these bras, I have them in pink and purple. I can't get on with the racer back ones as I once got stuck in one in debenhams changing room when I had a bad shoulder injury and it scarred me mentally for life!
These look good if your straps show and give great support.
I'm a fan of the Panache sports bra, they start at a D cup. Believe me nothing moves at all once it's on! There is also a clever little clip on the back to turn it into a racer back option if you want extra extra support. I got mine from Bravissimo, I tried it on in the fitting room and did plenty of jumping around in there just to make sure it was worth the £35 price tag! Am just starting week 5.1 and it's the best investmentt I've made so far...go on try one on and see what you think!!!
Am I right in thinking that you hav to handwash the Panache bras? That was what put me off getting one.
Hi,
Yes they do recommend it is handwashed, which I have done, but earlier this week it got scooped up with my track pants and ended up in the wash.....argh!!!......but having checked it over all seems fine. Might try it in there next time but in one of those zippable wash bags so it doesn't get snagged on the drum or anything.
So sorry btx4 that's made me laugh so much! I'm a fried egg girl so that's one thing I don't have to worry about!
It was a very scary experience!
It was half on and half off and I couldn't get in or out of it. I got hotter and hotter and more and more panicked. Because of my shoulder I was frightened to yank too hard and in the end I had to ask the changing room assistant to come and help.
Not very dignified standing half naked being hauled out of a bra by a complete stranger.
Since then I walk straight past racer-back bras
I second the Shock Absorber Run bras, they're fantastic although bloody fiddly to get on I find. However I've also got a couple of M&S bras which I really like.
I normally wear my sports bra over my normal bra which seems to hold everything in place.
40F here and it's shock absorber all the way. Amazon sometimes do discounted ones.
Another fan of Shock Absorber here, I bought quite a few other ones and this easily beats them all for holding everything in! I'm a 34DD btw and I got mine from Amazon, I bought the Max one rather than the Run one as I'd heard it was slightly more supportive for general exercise (I do other exercises as well as running), I think I paid around £20 including postage.
You can get Shock Absorber Level 4 for under £10 (new) on Ebay - mine has the racer back with two sets of hooks and eyes and it is difficult to hook up but nothing moves when I'm running. I prefer the "uniboob" style bras now.
Oops wrong room again!
I kept my eyes closed honest!
I had the stuck in a croptop bra experience in our local sports centre after going swimming. They're even more fiendish when your skin is still slightly damp. I still use croptops for Pilates and weight-training. But I have a heavy-duty triple-hook and Velcro job from Bravissimo for running. Not glamorous but effective xxx
less jiggle....love this comment.
Must look for a better bra, mine sems ok but as a 'big' girl I need all the help i can get.
Never been stuck in a changing room with a bra but racer backs are hard to get off when everythings sweaty and hurting.
Did have to get an assistant to pull a pair of jeans over my feet once though, online shoppings got a lot going for it!
I got mine in Penneys. I got the new rock solid one, which goes from dd up
I got my ShockAbsorber from Bravissimo and it was a hoot - lovely assistant who kept instructing me to 'arrange boobies' after I'd got into each bra. (GREG!!!! Out of here - now!)
Anyway I can highly recommend Bravissimo for fitting....and a bit of humour too!
I wear two bras! Both sports bras from M and S - I'm planning on investing in a shockabsorber - but in the meantime this is doing fine. One is a racer back, the other a conventional two strap one - the combination seems to guarantee the right amount of hold and de-bounce.
I would imagine that second hand max support bras would be quite common on eBay. I put on a lot of weight on my boobs and expect to lose it pretty soon so may have to sell mine. I'm expecting to go back down 2 cup sizes. But we definitely need proper support from our Upper Decker Flopper Stoppers!
