W7r3 - rain, rainbows, and running without Laura or dog ...

How do you early morning runners do it?  We're staying overnight with my in laws so Poppy has gone to stay with friends. Everyone else is still asleep as I creep around to get a cup of tea,  MIL stirs and asks if I'd like an umbrella?  She thinks I'm off for a walk. Sunshine is peeping through the clouds so I sneak the mp3 player from youngest daughter, get Endomondo up and running and set off.

Within seconds the Mp3 player flashes low battery and switches off.  Drat.  No Laura.  Never mind, my mate Endomondo is still with me.

I head off up the promenade alongside the beach (yes, we're by the sea). The sun is shining and there's a rainbow in the sky but it's bitterly cold and starting to rain as I run against the wind. Endomondo has a huff and restarts from zero when I check to see how I'm doing. I nip into beach shelters along the way on the pretext of checking for bears for b3any_boy - after all he can't be everywhere. I'm really trying to keep dry.  Perhaps the idea of an umbrella wasn't so bad after all? As I turn back, my shadow on the sand shows no sign of the bounce that Laura warns against. I put on a burst of speed to cross the road (couldn't do that a few weeks ago).  "Faster, faster" calls out a friendly cyclist.

I get back and according to Endomondo I've been running for 14.52 minutes, he's not counted the warm up or some of the start of the run but I think he's right that I didn't complete the full 25 minutes. Average speed 3.46 mph.

Bit disappointed after the highs of the weekend and think I may repeat this one. It's good to be able to read through a running magazine in the car on the way home for some inspiration though and great to meet up with Poppy again. She won't be sorry to have missed a wet run.

Early mornings are not for me! I am on wk7 run 3 Friday, hope the weather stays fine, its amazing how running into the wind seems to make it so much harder. Good job checking on bears! I saw a fox tonight in the lane, he shot off thru the hedge when I was running towards him

Who/what is Endomondo? I like the sound of him - even if he did stop part way through your run! Well done for going running somewhere new - I went out running at my parents' house at the weekend and it was fun doing a different route although there were more sneaky uphill bits than I'm used to!
