Went back too early...

I had to take some time off due to a bug which floored me, but I kept intending to come back. My doctor told me to take time off until I felt better and then get back in as soon as I felt ready.

Last night, I thought I could handle it. It had been over a fortnight and I was feeling okay, so I dropped back to Week 2 and gave it a shot. I was wrong.

It was hard, like the jump from nothing to W1R1 again. My chest hurt, my head hurt, my back ached, my legs hurt, my gut even hurt. I dropped into the bath with my vision going grey (though that could have been from running in full daylight on a cloudless day instead of at dusk as I did last time - I have some curious issues with bright sunlight) and my guts cramping so badly I thought I must be dying.

I had been eating well, staying hydrated, no snacking for a couple of hours before the run, but it was a killer. All the non-sniffly symptoms of my cold came crashing back to bury me in misery.

I think I'll leave it until Monday and start back at week one. I can do this, but I need to take it gently perhaps...

Glad you were feeling able to try getting out there again. Perhaps you should walk the 30minutes for a week or so using week 1. You could always amble along at the walk parts and walk faster at the running parts. This might be a more gentle approach and then you could start the running again when you have built up your stamina a little. :)

This could be because you are still not over your sick bug or it could be that the day you started back you also had a bad run day, also sometimes people going back to earlier weeks don't realise they are running faster than before which can make the breathing difficult and legs ache so I would say take it gently and don't give up, you will do it in the end
