Iv just fininshed wk2 run2 and finished a total distance of 3.5km. What distance should i be aiming for at this stage of the program?
How far?: Iv just fininshed wk2 run2 and... - Couch to 5K
How far?
There isn't really a bench mark distance that varies by person. There is a school of thought that this should really be called "Couch to 30 minutes Continuous Running" but that really doesn't roll off the tongue
Don't sweat the distance, what ever distance you are doing is the right distance for you it's keeping the timing that is more key.
I'm not sure if there is a distance we are supposed to hit but my week 2 runs (I did 5 of the wk 2 podcast) varied from 3.6 to 4.2 km suppose it depends on your stride. Will be interested in the replies you get to see if I'm on the right track too. My Wk3R1 run today was 3.8km. Hope this helps.
I never kept a record of the early stages of the programme - does that distance include the 5 mins warm up and cool down walks?
I always recommed that the focus on distance comes after you have finished the programme, for now just worry about running for the alocated time
I agree with all the above - I just concentrated on the time but found that I automatically speeded up a bit over the same course. However I think the real improvements will come post week 9 (which for me will be next week), once I start doing 30 mins without trying to increase the time, as each run I have more time to do I'm consciously (and necessarily!) going very slowly so that I make it through. Certainly for former couchies like me, there's enough to think about as you begin the programme without fretting about how far you're running!
