How do I know how far & how fast I'm running?

So I've just finished Wk6 Run3, I have no idea how fast I run or what distance. I'm wondering should I invest in some sort of device? A pedometer or something? I have a smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S2) - is there some sort of app that I could use? I'm in Co Wicklow in Ireland, not sure if that's relevant

if you take the phone with you on your run - try downloading one of the GPS running apps - they all do just about the same thing.

My personal choice is endomondo - because it's free and it's accurate & easy to use - it's handy too because it gives you pace and lap times (set to 1km) - it also measures pace/hydration/weather/elevation tons of stuff.

You can also create a profile at endomondo.com - where you can trace out your route on their version of google maps and then sync it to the phone - then when you are out running it will tell you how far you have run and your remaining distance.

Have fun & happy Running

If, like me, you don't have a phone that does anything more than calls and texts then this website is useful for route measuring. I suppose from there it would be easy enough to work out pace based on the route distance and the time it took you to run it.
