Hi all, I’ve just finished run 2 of week 5 and covered 3.8 km in the time ( including the 5 minutes warm ups and downs) This is the first time I actually looked at my distance and it does make 5km seem a long way off! Does this seem an ‘ on track ‘ distance? I don’t feel able to speed up at the moment.
How far should I be going?: Hi all, I’ve just... - Couch to 5K
How far should I be going?
Perfectly on track, you run the time not the distance. The programme will get you to running 30 mins non stop. Some (a few) people cover 5 k but most dont. You can build up to 5k after graduation if necessary 👍🏼
Well done for doing this Just take Millsie-J 's advice... you run the time.. as slow as you like We aim to get you running for those 30 minutes, injury free and having had a great time en route
There is no distance requirement at all - time for that in the future.
- But to make you feel good- I only managed 3.7K at the end of W6. By W9 R1 that had crept up to 4.52K without me feeling any faster- though actually I am. 😀
Advice seems to be that pace and distance come with practice - but enjoying running is most important to me - I'm still amazed and delighted that I can run for 30 mins after more than half a century of believing that I couldn't do it.
yes I never thought that I'd even get to this stage, and to actually be enjoying it, well that's incredible!
