Hi everyone, I completed this course 4 years ago and then my mum was seriously ill so it all came to an abrupt end.I have to say I am enjoying it so much more this time as I approach werk 5 run 3.
Yesterday I did run 1 and 2 of week 5 the same day because I really wanted to and it was a breeze.
My question is , are the days rest essential when running at a slow comfortable place and can I do the 3rd run today?
I have no aches and pains - Thanks 😃

Just because you can, it isn't always the case that you should.
Yes, it's possible to run every day or multiple times a day, but you don't leave your body any time to recover and grow.
Muscles grow relatively quickly as they have a good blood supply. The mechanical bits that link up everything (tendons, joints, fascia) don't have the same sort of blood supply so the changes there are more gradual.
I've been running now for nearly five years, and have done periods where I have run every day for extended periods (three months in one case). What I've found is that after a certain point little niggles don't go away, and the only way to fix them is to take time off from running.
There are people who do run every day, but they have been running for a long time already and the majority of their runs are short and low effort, and they do other different activities to balance the load.
But for a beginner (or re-starting runner), those rest days are non-negotiable. If you ignore them you will end up needing to visit a physio.
By "rest" it doesn't mean sitting at home, feet up, binge watching TV. You can do (and probably should do) some other activity which doesn't affect your body the same way running does. So walking, cycling and swimming would be good, but net sports with a lot of scuttering about (eg. tennis, badminton, basketball) probably wouldn't.
Yes. Running is a high impact activity. As nowster says, you can do other activity, just not high impact activity.
There are lots of underconfident people out there but there are probably at least as many 'boom and bust'ers. C25K is far from just a physical training programme and a lot of what it does is reining people back into something sustainable.
