.My first hamstring injury at 67

After run felt ok but after 30 minutes felt a pain in my thigh. Physio says it's my hamstring. 4-6 weeks to recover with stretching exercises and daily walking (intermittent slow/fast paced no running). Is indoor cycle machine ok with hamstring recovery? (I don't get hamstring pain on indoor cycle). Very frustrating.

firstly well done for avoiding hamstring issues for 67 years - let’s hope it’s another 67… The IC is a frustrating place to be but a few weeks recovery is better than the alternative. As I understand it the cycling movement is smoother and regular without percussive stress like running

Good luck with the recovery

Sorry you're injured. Re indoor cycling as recovery, I'd suggest you ask your physio rather than a bunch of randoms on the internet.

I share your pain, and your frustration. At our age, I'm 70, fitness seems to drain away very quickly, so there's a pressure to start running again asap. I would say, resist that temptation and be 100% guided by your physio. I used indoor cycling to keep up my cardio fitness and only started running again with the green light from my physio. I started doing strength exercises (one legged calf raises and chair squats) to improve calf and hamstring strength and so far (touches wood etc) I've been OK. I start week8 today. Good luck and keep at it.

Injuries really suck, particularly as we get older. I suggest following a personalised plan from a physio.
