The perils of short-termism!

There I was, merrily making my way through C25K for the fourth time (first three attempts scuppered by knee and foot injury and an early winter lurgy. Come January 25 I was starting again and diligently making my way through the programme, reading all the fantastic advice on here and feedback from fellow runners. I did run 1 of week 8 last Monday, and it felt great. Roll on Wednesday evening when I stupidly decided to leg it for the train home from work (it was so close and I made it), but the sprint was definitely not a good idea and here I am laid low with a calf injury! I am kicking myself! Anyways, I'm heeding all the advice here about allowing time to heal (RICE etc), and am doing a little gentle cycling but I'm gearing up to going back a few weeks before I can go forward! I ask myself whether getting home a half hour earlier worth it - in the grand scheme probably not!! Anyways onwards and thanks to all in this great community :)

well at least you got the train it would have felt so much worse had you missed it. What a real bummer though being so close to C25K graduation. At least you can try a couple of shorter runs and see how you go / the non impact cycling can only help. Best of luck for as short a time on the IC as is possible

Sounds like a bit of bad luck, goes to show that you can't take anything for granted. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and maybe go back a few weeks to build up you muscles etc.

Lessons learned and healing well we hope... on you go.. but a tad more slow and steady, maybe?

Ouch 😩 not always the best idea to hurry but hey ho the final few runs will still be there for you. So rest and heal well and you’ll graduate when your time comes.
