Good evening all! I hope everybody has had a great Xmas/holiday period! I've still got another week off π holidays so far have been busy, lots of partying, lots of eating and lots of family time. Not so much running! I had one the day after I finished work so the 22nd but felt an old familiar pain in the left knee which I've not had for a while. Had another try today but again same pain so only managed a couple of km running and then some walking. No pain while walking/stretching etc but can't get far into a run without the pain. It's an issue I've had on and off for years and tends to come and go without any real explanation π€·πΌββοΈ going to try again tomorrow I think, if its painful il just fast walk it.
Happy running!

Of course I wouldn't suggest that the seasonal mince pie overload would have any effect on your weight but...I have an arthritic knee and if my weight creeps up it lets me know far more insistently than any scales.
If the issue doesn't go away it might be worth seeing your GP about it, especially if you've had it for some time. They can probably pinpoint the cause - could be arthritis, could be weak tendons etc supporting the knee, could be something else (I'm not a doctor so these are the few options I've come across). Physio can be incredibly helpful too.
Good luck, hope you get back to running again soon.
Yeah I think a trip to the doctors may be worth while, managed a 3k run this morning before the pain returned, then a walk of close to 5k without any pain.
Not been on the scales for a while, didn't think much point over Xmas but I'd expect a small gain when I do as Ive not moved much π back to daily exercise now so il get weighed end of this week and get back on track properly.
Hi there. Hope you'll get this sorted out. So it sounds like more impact (running) = more pain; just a thought, but have you thought about your running shoes and whether changes there might help?
Yeah tried many shoes, been on Brooks glycerin for a long time now and find them very comfortable. The weird thing is I could run tomorrow and the pain could be gone and not return for several months.... But it generally always does return at some point. I think it needs strengthening personally and should be doing some strength&flex to go along with my cardio.
Ah, sorry, you had that all covered! π Weird, our bodies, aren't they... I have tendonitis but it isn't always a bad problem. 100% agreed about strength. I'm usually at a loss about what else to do though; there's so much info available, but I'm afraid I find it a bit TOO much sometimes! π
