I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and are hopefully still enjoying the festivities.
Running has unfortunately taken a back seat for me since graduation. Lots of excuses, some of them valid, have lead to minimal time and inclination to run. Christmas, eating, family, becoming a grandparent 😱 and an ankle niggle have got in the way. However I have still managed to get to the gym for a few workouts and along with weight training and the cross trainer I have ventured onto the running machine. At first I hated it and only managed 12 minutes! I couldn’t work out a comfortable speed (kept messing with the settings) and it was boring. Today’s effort was better, I managed a solid 20 minutes (plus warm up/cool down walks) and found a comfortable pace (maybe too comfortable). Even watched a show on Netflix while running. I could get used to it but am still looking forward to my usual outside running routes when life returns to normal (and they’re less flooded!!)
Will keep you all posted 👍 SD

hi StoneDragon …I know where you’re coming from..I hear ya…sometimes though, we have to do what we can, when we can..and in your case, however we can..you’ve done well to run indoors, I find it impossible..the boring bit always gets me…& at the gym they always put the treadmills near the windows…which makes me feel worse coz I like to be outside!!
Whatever you do & how ever often you get to run is great…& those out door runs are waiting for you right outside your door 😉
Well done! I have never ever run on a treadmill. I don't know how I'd cope. The gyms were all shut in lockdown when I started running. Instead I go out in all weathers.
It's been so mild and misty this week I've been out in shorts!
My only venture onto a treadmill was when I stayed at a hotel surrounded by busy roads. The Nike Running Club app (free, you don't need to buy Nike stuff to use it) has lots of guided runs, including some specifically for treadmills so I gave it a go. It was called something like First Treadmill Run and it really helped me to find out what to do and how to do it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it!
Hi there, good to hear from you again! I've been running on a treadmill for the last 6 weeks or so as I have tendonitis and it's a bit less painful; I do find it boring, but needs must, and if things improve I'd really like to get back outside. Good luck with your comeback! 😂
