Week 5 Done and Dusted

What a week to be doing Week 5!Run 1 and 2 done with 2nd being a bit icy underfoot so I took it nice and slow! I had expected run 3 to be clear! However the running gods had other ideas sending an overnight snowfall.

Fortunately it was not too heavy so I ventured out this morning where it was "shallow and crisp and uneven -🎵🎶🎵"

With outside temperature showing 1° with a wind chill of -4° I had selected my trusty Merino Wool base layer and added another two layers top and bottom so I ended up like a piece of toilet paper - 3ply!!!

The run itself was slow and steady with the noisy crunching underfoot as I went over the iced snow. When it got to the half way ding I happily turned around and headed back - the last 3-4 minutes were a mental struggle as the hip aches had already ceased - I switched over to Sarah on the app and she gave me her usual encouraging words.

The last 2 minutes flew by and finally - you've done it!! This might be a repeat of C25K for me but the joy of completing a difficult run is still there.

Hopefully the weather will be kinder for week 6 but if not I am ready for it 😃

Happy running everyone, stay warm.

Thanks Laura - I think the months of not going outside has left me more determined! 😬

So impressed that you took on Wk5 in the cold and with snow on the ground Richard.

Repeating the program so you knew you could do it, but extra kudos for not making excuses when looking outside!

'Aint nothin' gonna stop you now....what an inspirational post.

🏃❄️👌🎉xxx

Yes indeed we are embarking on week 5 on Sunday. To be fair I think I’m feeling pretty good about it…I’m sure that’s going to change when Sunday morning rolls round and the glorious basking in the end of week four dissipates. But thank you for the well wishes! If you’ve been running in snow you’ll smash week 6!

Thanks looking I think I will be at the mercy of Storm Bert - well we all will be!! It might be time to break out the rain jacket next! I do have the option of the gym but am trying to avoid that if possible!! 😬

Brilliant , well done, its sometimes hard to get out there when you have a look at how cold it is, especially with the 5 minute walk, but I warm up pretty quickly when the running starts.

Yeah I often layer up and have to remove a layer part way into the run 😉

Thanks ... I don't normally do photos on my runs but this was at the end of it ... during the walk section so I made an exception 😃
