Hello everyone, I’m new to C25k and I’ve just done W6R1, it’s tough but so proud how I’ve progressed from W1R1 where I was gasping for breath! The only issue I’m having is I’m getting a really dry sore throat over the last few weeks. I’m guessing I’m breathing through my mouth too much…but any tips would be great. I’m 60 and still breathing a little heavy on the runs. 🙂
Sore throat: Hello everyone, I’m new to C25k and... - Couch to 5K
Sore throat
🍏🤗 Welcome to C25K and to our forum!! So well done for getting all the way to Week 6… that’s amazing! Hopefully you have read all the hints and tips about the program but will give you the link

If the dry sore throat is only when you run try sucking something soothing like a wine gum … tips about breathing 😮💨 in the link Don’t forget to drink lots of extra fluids during these cooler months. Heating in homes & shops dries us out more than we realise.
Keep up this exciting progress & do let us know how it goes. 😊
Thank you for the info, I’ll get some wine gums and will increase my fluids and hopefully everything will settle down. I’ll check out the hints and tips again via the link you provided. 😀
Thanks Annieapple for the wine gum tip, I stick one in between my check and gum and it works a treat 😀 and a great excuse for buying wine gums 🤣
🍏😊🙌 Soo pleased!! You must be week 8 or so… how are the runs going?
I often suck a sugar free polo if my mouth gets really dry... !
As Annieapple says, just because it is colder...don't forget to keep up your hydration levels... not just on run days, but al the time..
On you go...very well done!
Terrific efforts!! It is amazing to reflect back to Week 1, isn't it!
I agree with everyone here, do be sure to keep hydrated. The heating can dry out your mucous membranes in your mouth/nose. Are you able to crack a window in your bedroom to allow some fresh air while you are sleeping?
Keep us posted on Week 7!
Well done! Keep going 😊👊🦋
