Sore throat

I've noticed that I'm starting to get a bit of a sore throat everytime I run outside (doesn't help that we are by the airport) but does anyone have any recommendations on masks or anything which might help me to breathe cleaner air? Or is it just a common side effect which will get better?

Oh, that doesn't sound much fun! I've not seen anyone post anything like that so can't really help I'm afraid. I know people sometimes run with a buff over their mouth in the cold to help with asthma, but I don't imagine running with a mask is going to be easy. I hope you find a solution though.

Thankyou Linda, I have never heard of a buffer. I know at the moment some runners are using masks due to covid 19 but its definately not one I really want to try to do. I'll look up buffers, that sounds interesting.

Buff - it's a circular piece of fabric. Buff is the original make. Great neckwarmer for the winter!

Is there any chance you suffer with hayfever? I do and my throat has been quite sore the last couple of months especially with the windy weather we've been having blowing the pollen around

That's a good point. I know I am slightly hayfever, when the pollen is high that's when it affects me. Thankyou mum22, I didnt even think of that.

I was going to say the same. Pollen is insane right now. Might be worth trying an antihistamine and seeing what happens.
