Sore knees

Hello there, I’ve stopped running for now as my knee is in agony, I can’t actually kneel down and put my knees on the floor or any surface without it being agony, I’m desperate to keep my running going though so wondering if anyone knows of a really good not too expensive knee support that might help me. I’m 20 stone so really trying to lose the weight and was hopeful that C25K would help, so I don’t want to give up. 🙏XX

Running is great for toning you up but it is not in itself going to make you lose any significant weight, as advised in the guide to the plan.

Your knee seems to be giving you persistent problems so if the advice in the guide for dealing with injury is not working, then the next step is to get the advice of a medical expert.

This is not easy at the moment, although some physios are doing online assessments, but continuing with an issue that is not responding to the advice to minimise impact or dealing with injury could lead to more serious injury, in my opinion.

I have an elastic knee support bought from a local pharmacy for under £10. It is the only one I have used so cannot give a comparative assessment of it, although it does offer my particular knee issue some help.

Hi there, where do I find the guide to the plan. I actually work in a hospital, so might be cheeky and ask the physio’s for some exercises for it, although I can’t really move it much without it being really sore.xx

'Agony' doesn't sound good. Stop running and wait for it to get better and if it doesn't then you'll have to see a doctor. Agony of pain is never a good sign.

😫😢, it’s really weird, I can be quite lazy, but I’m actually wanting to get out and run, I also love going out on my bike, so my hubby has suggested going out on my bike a few times before I go back running, he actually said I should of done that for a while before I started the C25K. X

Well, you cannot run through pain. Pain could mean injury and running through it means aggravating it. I did that and messed up my knee to such extent that l couldn't walk properly for months, let alone run.

Be patient but also seek professional advice. A physio would know better.

I’m a bit worried I will lose my willpower I have to get out running at the moment. X

A lot of this is about willpower. That's you on your own with a little push from the forum. And again, like it or not, you simply cannot run through injury. I know exactly what I'm talking about. If you hurt yourself more there won't be any running at all for some time. Been there - done that.
