I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and as the day has progressed it’s getting sorer and I’m beginning to worry about my week 5 run 1 on Monday! I’m panicking I won’t be up to it and I know there’s no point worrying now but haha I don’t want to miss my run 😂

You could run with a sore throat but don’t try it if you start coughing, may be best to take care of yourself and rest

Yeah I’m really hoping I don’t catch a full on cold! I’m more worried cos week 5 starts getting pretty full on and I wanna be fighting for! Here’s hoping.... 🤞🏼

Drink lots of fluids and maybe a gargle with salty water. Maybe you can head it off.

Dont worry about it. My wife started wk 4 just as she started with a full on chest cold. It took her out for a full week but she went back to run 1 and did it just fine. She was frustrated at not being able to run, just as you will be if this develops into anything. But hey, being frustrated at not being able to run, that's got to be a good sign hasn't it?

Yes that’s what I figured when the first thought upon waking this morning was ‘hmmm my throat feels a bit scratchy’ quickly followed by ‘oh no, what if I can’t run!!’ Bitten by the bug I think 😂

There are worse bugs to have :-)

Hopefully it's just a sore throat you have and nothing that gets worse like cold or flu. Your runs will wait until you feel better.

I once had the worse sore throat ever and a pharmacist advised me to gargle with soluble aspirin a few times per day and it really helped after nothing else would. Good luck 🤗

Poor you, hope it's not so bad this morning. All you can do is drink lots and see how you feel. If your glands are up your body's telling you to take it easy, so I would wait till you feel better to run. I know how you feel about missing a run, though. Frustrating, but that's bodies!!

Actually feeling ok today! Throat is still a bit niggly but gonna keep well hydrated and hope I’ve dodged it!!! 🤞🏼

Well it is that time of year. Wash your hands from being out in the public, I would advise plenty of cough sweets, lozenges and lemsips but because of so many contradictions I would think twice. Maybe best to call the NHS non emergency help line number 111 or failing that seeing your GP first, some people thrive in this sort of weather and enjoy running more when it is cooler and by acclimatising to these conditions can keep running 🏃🏻‍♂️ haha
