Just finished W9 R1...
Windy and shed loads of loose dogs and idiots with buggies 3 abreast on the common so already decided I probably wouldn't make it.
Went out too fast but managed to rein it in after 1k. Then at the start of a long back straight on the route I run, the 12" New York remix of Relax came on and suddenly I felt like nothing could stop me. Got into a groove for the first time. Didn't even notice the 5 min markers.
Before I knew it Steve Cram started congratulating me and told me to start the cool-down walk. But what does he know about middle distance running? The Zen was upon me, and it was time to cut the apron strings.
So like Luke Skywalker, I switched off my attack computer and trusted in the force.
And 4 mins 28s later I reached 5k for the first time!
Never believed I could do that - it's crazy what this programme can do for your life if you stick with it!
