Hi all! I completed my final run of the programme today! 🎉 Hopefully many, many more to come 😊

I’d appreciate some advice on how to track my progress please. I’ve downloaded the Strava app, and I just hold my phone when I run. Will this give me an accurate reading or should I invest in a watch.. or something else?

Thanks in advance ♥️

🍏Congratulations!!! 🙌🎶

You could celebrate and buy a watch but Strava will do the job for you. Look out for running kit that has a zip pocket or invest in a running belt to hold your phone. Makes for a more relaxed run & less chance of damaging your phone.

Congratulations Runner!😁

There's no real need for a watch. They give you lots of stats but it's very easy to get hung up on the numbers and lose sight of the running. Of course some of us (well me anyway) like looking at stats 😂 There was a recent post on here recommending watches. If you have an Android phone Google Fit can track you too. I've got a feeling it might automatically detect that you're running but don't quote me on that.

Happy running to you, the fun is just starting 😁

Congratulations on your graduation!

My phone fits inside a pocket in my shorts/leggings. Also I have a running belt - but I have to take the phone out of its case to fit in that, so I don’t use it that much.

It’s true, you don’t need a watch. I didn’t start out being a lover of stats, but now I am and I wish I’d bought a watch earlier. I like to keep an eye on my heartrate for most of my runs and a watch gives me that at a glance while I’m running. I have a fairly basic Garmin watch. With the associated app I can write specific workouts to send to my watch e.g. for speed intervals. Then it’s easy to see afterwards exactly how fast you were running for those intervals. Of course it’s difficult to know what info might be useful to you in the future - you may not want all that, in which case Strava will be enough. For tracking your progress in more detail, though, perhaps a watch is the way to go 😊
