Our son didn't do C25K, instead, as a running-hater, but former very-good-rower, decided to enter a 5K charity event. He started far more quickly that wise counsel would suggest, but he kept at it. Last time he visited, he did a local 5.2k from our house, which involves a pretty steep climb and it was hot - he came back about 22 mins later saying he didn't really try too hard! The little so-and-so.
He sent me a message yesterday. On Sunday he popped out for a run, and ended up doing 13.1 miles - a half marathon distance to a local nature reserve and back again. To clarify, he did 13.1 in total, not each way... he isn't superman after all.
He stopped rowing [double, quad and the occasional 8] pre-uni, and he is now three year post, and didn't take any real activity beyond walking in the intervening period. It just goes to show what we can achieve when we put our mind to it.
Good luck to all and every runner on here, be you a newbie or an experienced graduate. Keep going, and be thankful for the cooler summer and the approaching autumn.
PS. My lateral co-lateral ligament is finally starting to feel more secure so, with any ordinary luck, I shall be out doing some pre-starting-running brisk walking soon and then very tentative slow running by autumn. Please, get down onto your knees and pray to which ever God you worship and ask for my knee to get better - I have to try and keep up with our son, and I need divine assistance! I really need it!!
