Home work week 7 completed

I had to redo it today as yesterday’s run hadn’t gone exactly to plan!

Yesterday my plan was to run from home to the sports track which marked the end of my Son in Law and run buddies completion of their 50k ultra marathon! Both of them had never done a marathon and skipped it straight to an ultra!

To be fair they had been practicing all year for this. Both of them are run team leaders for our local running club!

My son in law put up a comment today saying yesterday was his 5yr post C25K which had done on the later stages of this trail as he didn’t want people to see him running as he was so unfit! He was 22 stone now he’s a more comfortable 13.5 stone! Joinning the run club has helped to loose that embarrassment and now is an inspiration to others and both my Grandsons 3yrs and 16weeks! I tried for a long time to get him to join and through lockdown he was my at a safe distance running buddy!

I have had numerous setbacks in that time due to injuries! Though I am sure marathons are out of my sites getting back to 5k is my current goal!

Welcome back! So glad you’re running again after that nasty shoulder injury and what a great story your son in law and buddies have to tell! It just shows how far you can go - who knows, maybe one day you’ll have a marathon in you. You’ll have loads to celebrate whatever you do!

Just as a little disclaimer-people might like to know you’re an experienced runner using couch to 5k as a comeback so you’re at the stage where you don’t absolutely have to have rest days between runs. We’d always encourage newer runners to keep those recovery days as a non negotiable.

Enjoy the journey to 5k-you’re doing brilliantly!
