Back on it! And if you can, do it!

I Graduated a couple of years ago, was never very quick, but always (nearly!) enjoyed it! Then I took up Muay Thai too, which I love!

In October last year, I developed a cough, and coughed that much, I broke a rib! After 2 weeks of sleeping sitting up, and extreme pain on coughing, twisting or pretty much anything, it started to ease. However, a few days later, after I was able to lay down again, I coughed while moving to a sitting up position and did it again! And it’s happened twice since! It’s almost comical how I did it, wiping up our new puppies wee in the kitchen the third time!

Touch wood, I’ve been fine since mid January, and last week, I went for my first run since 3rd October! Did my 3rd run this morning, albeit I’m only doing around 2km, and am going super slow, but it’s FANTASTIC to be out there again! I even managed 30 mins Muay Thai on the bag.

Basically, what I’m saying is, if you can get out and run, DO IT! Because when you can’t, you’ll miss it!!

Sorry for the long ramble!

🍏 phew!! What a challenging time!!! However against all odds you are running again!! The passion within never goes away! Well done & keep it slow and easy!! Interested in Muay Thai? Is it a form of boxing?? 🥊

It was very challenging! But, compared to some, I’m lucky really!

Slow and easy is my mantra! I often see people posting and doing twice my pace, but I’m happy to plod along!

Strangely, Muay Thai ( which yes, is Thai Boxing) I’m the opposite and I can work flat out for 3 x 2 min rounds ( which is a lot harder than it sounds!) I don’t compete, or even spar, it’s pretty much non contact except when doing the 3 rounds at the end, and then I’m hitting the pads (and hopefully dodging the instructors punches and kicks, but he’s very kind to me!) It certainly de-stresses you!

Fantastic to have you back. That feeling of “I ran yesterday” vs “I ran months ago” is such a wonderful one. Are you following the classic couch to 5k or doing your own gentle build? Enjoy your comeback and keep the updates coming!

Thank you for your kind words! It’s great to be back!

I’m just doing my own gentle build. When I’m back to 30 mins regularly, then I’ll look at building to 10k. No idea if it’s long enough , but I’ve given myself 6 months to achieve the 10k! I’m sure some of this wonderful form m can advise me more realistically!

Oh fab! That’s what I did coming back from injury. I just added a few minutes each week until I got to 30 minutes and I felt ready to run normally, and then I picked up the magic plan over on Bridge to 10k. See how you go. It’s great to have a goal, and six months seems totally doable and realistic, but it’s always worth staying flexible and patient with ups and downs that always seem to come with running. You’ve got lots of supporters here to cheer you on!

Again, thank you for your kind words and words of encouragement! When I started C25K, I never thought I’d WANT to be able to run 10k! I’ll definitely check out the magic plan!
