Two years ago I was on the c25k programme like many of you. I was enjoying running, not least for its health benefits and I was determined to keep it up. This was going to become a habit, I was going to become a runner.
Two years later and Runkeeper tells me I have run 366 times in two years. That's every other day for 2 years. I think it's a habit!
During that time I have had a couple of colds where I didn't run (but none in the last year), a couple of weeks off due to niggles (sore shins, sore knees - at the moment my right foot is complaining) and a few weeks off during holidays at the early stages where I hadn't discovered my love of running tourism.
But there have been other times (mostly holidays!) where I have done a bit of streaking (running on consecutive days) because the countryside has just been so inviting. I have run in 8 different countries and a number of different cities. I loved them all. I must admit it helps living in the centre of Europe for access to different countries! Next week we're off to Rome and I am excited at the prospect of running in the Eternal City.
So if you're just starting out on your journey it pays to be persistent. It is a very rewarding activity and if you can turn it into a habit you won't regret it!
