There's wet, and there's wet and cold. The first is OK, the second is not.

Bear in mind that stuff that keeps out wet tends also to keep it in. It's possible to be a "boil in the bag" runner.

I find that insulating layers (to keep the warm in even when wet) are more useful than waterproofing.

There are a lot of factors. The temperature and the wind chill are things you have to consider.

It's a complicated business, this running outside.

I agree with nowster . I live in mid-mountain countryside and have run in rain, snow and hail, but my personal preference is for my usual running gear, layered if necessary. I do own a couple of breathable, water-repellent, wind-resistant jackets, but I've never yet used them for running!

well done you!

I'm old too and seem to be working through the program ok but I do have waterproof running gear. I did a bit of research and then bought them in the sales, the key is that they are made of 'breathable' material. There are a load of reviews on line so you can get a sense of what might suit you before you buy. Mine are waterproof (type of fabric but also sealed seams), wind proof & breathable (the fabric is designed to wick moisture away from your skin). I would say that current weather conditions are a pretty good test and so far mine have done really well. Even my feet stay dry despite long wet grass and landing, splat, in unavoidable puddles. I suppose the down side is that technical fabrics are costly so check out the sales. The other thing I like to know about is the companies attitude to the environment. Quite a few of them use recycled materials in developing their fabrics. Oops - bit of a long ramble! Anyway I'm pleased with mine and think they are money well spent.

Well done. We all knew you could do it!

With regard to running gear - keep an eye open in Aldi and Lidl because their stuff is great value and not bad quality.

I think Lidl have some gym/running stuff in store now actually.

Keep it up!
