Well now, I might actually be back....again!🤣

So its been a long, long drought in the running department round here....I have battled illness long, very long and very hard.......no running in the last year....

I believe I am ready to start again...again😁

Obviously I'm going to start at week one, because I just don't know whether I could do more than that, I guess we will see....

I've always struggled with mid week, post work runs, exhaustion sets in as soon as I'm home.

Any advise about what to drink/eat before I dash out. I will literally be arriving home from work tired and hungry and I know if I don't get changed straight away, and go out, I won't do it at all. So, I need a quick drink or very small snack to give me just enough of a boost to get me out there.....and have my tea after I get home?

I'm signing up for the Race for Life, I missed last year for the first time since I can remember, so I'm looking forward to that, and it gives me a little motivation to get moving.

Sorry about the lost post, its good to be back!😊

You might have to try different foods to see what you can eat and then run.A couple of rounds of plain toast (or similar ) and some water might be a good start

Hiya Katnap! I'm actually really excited to get started again, water is always a must for me as a rule......I may risk a small banana and see what happens 😅

Welcome back! Working out what to eat before runs is tricky and often requires a bit of trial and error. If I’ve only got a short time, a pack of three nairns fruit and seed oatcakes is my usual food of choice. Toast and jam is another favourite option, and occasionally I’ll have a small banana.

Can’t wait to hear how you get on!

I run first thing and wake up hungry. I eat half a protein bar and have a cup of tea before I go out for a shuffle. It just takes the edge off before I get back for breakfast. Enjoy being back in the fray

Welcome back! I definitely re-started at Run 1, though I'd had a break of only a few months. It does come back and that first run is just SO satisfying.

Good luck!

Good to see you again!

Two suggestions which may or may not be possible for you:

1) Have something to eat and drink before you leave work (and bump up your lunch a bit too)

2) Wear as much as possible of your runwear to work so there is less changing to do. I never get changed to run (because I'd just have to go back to bed instead), I merely peel off the stealth layer on top and change footwear. At a minimum, your running underwear. Or perhaps if that's not an option, can you change before leaving work?

Having that specific goal you've set yourself sounds like a very helpful strategy too.

I can definitely have a snack before I leave work....I definitely can't wear my running gear at work......but potentially, I could change before driving home...🤔 interesting idea. I will keep everyone posted, and thank you all so much for still being here to encourage me!😁
