Is this a my brain stopping me to keep running

I am fit and well I would say super healthy

Hope someone can help me with advise

Oh goodness... that was a shock for you. Have you ever fainted before ?

There could be so many reasons and as we are not medical experts at all, it is very, very difficult to advise you. It could simply have been dehydration, over exertion or low BP...an isolated episode... like dizziness when standing up too quickly?

This was physical not mental. If you are concerned still. then a visit to your GP, for a BP test and similar would be our advice to you.

Breathing while you are running is quite simple... run at a conversational pace and breathe in the way you always do, try not to overthink. If you are struggling for breath, you are moving too quickly. Slow down.

There is so much discussion about this and trying to alter your breathing is not a great plan... just breathe in the way that is right for you.

🍏 Oldfloss has given you excellent advice.

A quick check up at the GP is a good idea! 👍 It may just be that you are running too fast & need to slow it down & as Oldfloss says to breathe normally! However for peace of mind ask your GP.

Do let us know how you get on! You are doing so well!!! 6 weeks sorted!! Excellent

Definitely see a doctor, don't rely on us, well meaning though we are. If you get checked out then you have the peace of mind of knowing that you are receiving expert, personalised advice, not our best guesses.

There's probably a very simple explanation and your doctor will be able to give it :)

Get that checked out with your doctor.

I started ages ago and stopped running after an injury. It was silly of me really I was too heavy to be pounding and overtaked my knee.

I'm very good luck with your pending run. A little check out with the doctor won't do any harm .

I haven't given up entirely - I found I love cycling and it gets me from A-B fairly efficiently. I walk also.

I noticed my breathing is better in the warmer weather but some days I feel I struggle. I'm afraid I've no advice about that either. Only I have a fitbit watch and it gives an idea of HRV heart rate variability and its figures on me suggest - not so good range. As a consequence I have checked it out with my gp with one or two other factors and she is investigating. An ECG.

I think you know yourself when to check things out but don't be scared to. Always better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

oh gosh Majo1469 …how awful???? Are you prone to fainting? I have never fainted in my life but I have seen it and it scared me…

There are many things that we can ‘play’ with when we’re running, pace, stride etc and we can often get hung up on these things while we’re running along…but really…just run..let your body take in and expel the air the way that it happens naturally…there’s no ‘proper’ way…just let it happen

Not what you're looking for?
