Struggling with motivation

Hey all!

I graduated C25K 2 weeks ago and have really been struggling with motivation since then. I really want to go out running but there seems to be something stopping me.

I have been out running since then just not as much as I had hoped. I did go out this morning and did my best run yet, so know I've still got it :)

Any tips on how to overcome my motivation demon?

perhaps you need some structure to your running?

it's easy to loose direction after graduating !

have you been over to the bridge to 10K forum and looked at the consolidation club for ideas as to what to do next ?

or maybe use something like the nike running club app if you miss the structure of the guided runs , there are many on the app.

giving your runs a purpose rather than just 'oh, i need to run'

of course the main thing is enjoy it ! 😊

good luck 👍

Yes I think the lack of structure might be it. C25K worked really well because I knew I was working towards running for 30 minutes, so I need to decide what my new goal is.

I haven't had a look on the consolidation forum so I will head over and have a look!

Thank you for your advice! :)

Motivation comes and goes for all of us. What's more important is creating the discipline to make getting out of the door a habit - so you get out even when you don't really feel like it.

Thank you! Yes i got into a really good routine with C25K so need to make sure I plan in my runs better.

Hi Weff 👋 Just echoing Instructor57’s helpful advice - a structure is needed if you haven’t found one yet.

I’ve been using the C25K+ podcasts (nice to have Laura still pushing me on!) and also participating in MontyMooDog’s Weekly Virtual 5K ahead of starting Ju-Ju-‘s Magic 10K Plan next week (you can find this over on the Bridge to 10K forum).

As John_W says, motivation comes and goes. If I’m not really feeling a run I normally get ready and go out with a walk in mind .... before I know it I’m 🏃‍♂️

Happy running!

Hello! I will definitely have a look at these going forwards. I've still been using C25K because I can't seem to bring myself to run without Jo telling me I'm doing great!

Thank you for the advice :)
