The next run after Graduation.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my post about graduating, it was so kind of you and I so welcomed all your tips and insights.

Just to say, I felt so much more confident this morning doing the 5K. I thought "I can do this , nobody is looking at me and if they are , they are only wishing they could do this". And I made myself wear my shorts. I thought the end of C25K would be enough for me but now I am seriously looking at the Bridging Programme and maybe, if I am very brave, signing up for Park Run.

I am 62 and honestly if someone had said to me when I turned 60 that I would be able to run 5K I would never have believed it in a million years.

So thank you to you all 😀

Awesome!! And definitely sign up for Parkrun, once you have your barcode you can keep it handy for when you are ready, only took me about 2 years from signing up to doing my first Parkrun

Congratulations - you've done brilliantly and you're sooo right to be proud. I started C25K a couple of months ago at the age of 69-and-a-half and I thought I would either give up after a couple of runs...or I would have a heart attack/stroke!! But totally unexpectedly, the bug bit me and Here I am at the other end, running 30 mins three times a week and planning a public 5k charity run for November. Isn't life full of wonderful surprises? Good luck and keep going!

Well done you, I think too much about the age I am as a number, rather than what I can still do. You therefore are a total inspiration and I remember you when I want to stop and walk haha. All the very best for your charity run and thanks for replying.🌞

Pleasure to chat with you and thanks for the kind words! Btw - I'm thinking of launching a campaign to make the word "still" illegal when it relates to age, ha ha!

U go girl! Well done and I love the thing about people watching and wishing they could do this ! I’m 62 and love park runs I haven’t done one since Aug 2021 had to stop as Saturdays became “caring for elderly parents day “ but nature has taken its course and they now watch over me from above xx I did the first one back after first lockdown I will never forget it - a beautiful occasion - hugs tears laughter it was so incredible!! X I’m starting back on 16th sept ( with no. 15) and have even bought a wall planner with stickers from Etsy to track them x

Please give it a go even if u are a solo participant you will find people so friendly to run with ( I find someone who looks like my age and build and try to keep up with them) it’s a really lovely community, all together just getting round the course x don’t think you have to run it all it’s finish line not finish time that’s important x waiting for yr results email is torture though !!

Good luck I think u might get hooked like I am xxx

Aw thanks u2 x I used to manage around 7/8 k ( race for life 10K 2019 PB 75:12) and having to stop broke my heart but I had to put mum and dad first whilst they needed me then 2 bouts of covid last year made it 91 mins as I walked most of it! Next one is 26/5/24 and I’m aiming for a new PB by then as I want to carry on after c25k x I never ever thought I’d run for as long as I do now and I’m sure I’ll get back to where I was and maybe even further ( always wanted to do great north run !!) given time and being kind to the old bod! Do let me know how u get on xx take care xx
