So before I started this 6 weeks ago i was always reluctant to run due to an old knee injury, and a bit of arthritis . It was all going so well until after my 3rd run on Friday last week in hhe gym on the treadmill.I had a really good run and didn't feel any pain until I woke up Saturday morning and my knee was so stiff and behind my knee really tight . I thought that I needed to stretch out , so I have been all week but with no let up with the stiffness. I am reluctantly thinking of giving up running and doing it on a cross trainer, any advice please 🙏

Oh no! You’ve done the right thing by not running in pain. Have you seen anyone for the knee injury before and have you considered seeing someone now? It’s likely you can keep running with targeted strength and flex work but you might need some real life physio type guidance to know what you need to be doing for your specific issues. It would be a shame to have to give up if you’re enjoying yourself. Hopefully there’ll be a solution.

🍏Oh what a shame! I would definitely get some advice from a physio before making a decision to stop.. you may just need to rest it & do some strengthening exercises & then get back to running… especially as the first 6 weeks went well. Let us know how you get on!
