I completed C2K5 Jan and had some time off due to injury. I have just completed Week 7 😀 I just wanted to ask do you tend to run alternate days? I have been using a treadmill and run around 3k is in 25 mins. Outside I’m running a bit further but after my outside runs I definitely feel more ‘achy’ and tight in my hamstring/ITB. Should I rest an extra day? Thanks 😊

Three Runs a Week!
Hi Maggie, I'm also coming back from an injury ( week 4). Taking it gentle and an easy pace, got myself some better shoes. I alternate days so that i can rest myself and keep an eye on my body. I'm also incoopertaing more stretches. I love the outdoors as i don't have a treadmill. Hope this helps.
Hi Maggie-Moo , definitely add in another rest day if you're feeling achy. C25K isn't built upon running alternate days; one rest day in between run days is the minimum.
Also, if hamstring/IT band issues are recurring, it might be helpful to get more advice and/or exercises from your physio.
Hope you recover fully soon!
hi Maggie-Moo when I started C25k last year I would make sure I took my rest day between runs. I’ve just started the program again this week and I’m making sure I include a rest day or two between my runs just to make sure I get the most out of my runs and to limit injuries. Good Luck!
Rest as much as you feel you need to .... simply run, and enjoy!
Thanks everyone. I took an extra rest day and headed out this morning. I managed 3.80km in 25 mins. Week 8 beckons!!!
I can see there's confusion about the meaning of 'alternate' days.
The key thing is that if you ran (or indeed did other high impact activity) don't do it again the following day.
I’ve stayed with 2 days rest. Week 8 run 1 completed last night. My treadmill runs are so slow!!!
