How does the three runs a week work?

Hi! Just done Mr second run of my first week today and loving it! If I do three runs a week, in my case Mon, weds and fri, does that mean no running at the weekend or can I just do every other day regardless? X

You definitely need at least one day rest in between each run but after that it’s up to you! Some people seem to go every other day which means they finish in less than 9 weeks, others have 2 days or more in between so it takes them longer. Good luck with whichever you decide

When going through the program, I stuck to three runs within a seven day period. That meant that somewhere in my week I'd have two days between runs instead of one.

One advantage to this approach (aside from making sure you're getting enough rest throughout the week) is flexibility. I could check the weather for the week and try to plan my runs for mornings when the forecast called for nicer weather (always keeping at least one rest day between runs).

Lately I have mostly been in a routine of running Tuesday, Friday, Sunday. Two early morning runs, and one weekend run when I can go out a bit later with the sun shining!

You're a new runner. Your body isn't used to it. So:

Mon/Wed/Fri or Tue/Thu/Sat etc is absolutely fine. And yes, 2 days with no running is the norm at this stage.
