only one more run to go on week 5 - most useful resource on the site - the slow running clip, still haven’t quite hit the sweet spot on the warm up exercises.

what warm up exercises work best for you? I’ve tried the runners world ones and some from couch to 5k.

Advice gratefully received.

I do 10 of each of these active stretches:

Kick backs (kicking my bum)

High knee marches

Toe/heel lifts

Leg swings - forward/backwards

Leg swings - sideways

Shifty side lunges

Walking lunges

Then I'm good to go!

Agree that slow running clip has saved me! every time I get tired I just slow down and "tap, tap, tap" 😀

Well done on getting to week 5 🙌 re the warm up exercises. I just walk uphill for 8 minutes, there's a small hill/incline on the road outside my door, it levels out for my run at the top, which is handy. So I just do that, maybe I should do exercises aswell but up to now it seems to be enough as I don't have any pain or aches or anything. Maybe others will have more tips!

Lovely clematis in your pic ❤️

thanks for tip - I used to do yoga more often and that kept everything in working order without the muscle and tendon pains with the warm up exercises. Back to yoga I think.

Woohoo! Fabulous!

In terms of warmup, I walk 5-7 minutes (10 min in winter) and then do these:

Over the last year I also started to do additionally some ankle mobility drills at the beginning of the run, but by the time I have done above exercises, I’m all warmed up.
