So I'm wondering if a few leg/knee exercises before heading out on my run would be beneficial, or is the 5 minute warm-up at the start of each podcast really sufficient?

It’s supposed to be enough but tbh as my runs are getting longer I’ve done a few knee raises and calf stretches. It’s mainly after the run I do my stretches when my muscles are warmed up. They really need it!

If you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you will find links to different stretches for pre run and post run.
I do my own five minutes walking and then the five minutes on the app.

I do lots of dynamic stretching, ( I am old ) I entertain the neighbours and the wildlife with my donkey kicks... and often take much longer than the five minute warm up
And, after each and every run stretching is essential
