First outdoor run in several years

It's a week since I last ran, I did week 9 run 1, so this morning I decided I was going to test my outdoor running capabilities, mainly my ability to regulate my speed.

I walked down to the beach and once I got on the sea wall, I set off, what a disaster it was!

I was running too fast, I slowed but within about 10-15 seconds I was back up to the same speed.

My breathing was all over the place, due to concentrating too much on my speed I wasn't paying attention to my breathing.

It wasn't the run I'd hoped it would be BUT it's a start and it gives me an idea of what I can do and how I need to go about resolving my inability to regulate my speed.

I'm not going to give up, I didn't use the app today but next time I will, I'm going to drop back to week 2 or 3 and do a couple of runs and build up from there, that should also give me the time to help regulate my speed.

Other than that, it is a glorious morning on the east coast of the UK today.

Happy running everyone.

It's certainly a different kettle of fish running outside !But something I'm sure you can get used to ...

As you say maybe a few interval runs to ease yourself into it .

It's certainly worth pursuing.

I used to run outside about 4 years ago, had issues adapting then but Mrs LeeU decided to do C25K at that point and I used her to slow myself down.

It worked quite well and within a couple of runs, 3 to 4 max, I was out on my own plodding along.

As I went places for work I'd take my running gear and go out for a run, Zurich, Orlando, Austin, Bergen, Helsinki, Barcelona, etc, loved it.

I'm not overly concerned, I'll sort it out using the intervals to help me sort my pace issues.

I'm sure you will sort it out 👍The main thing is enjoy what you do 😊
