Just had 3 days away having an assessment for a more sporty prosthetic and whilst there was described as"fit and young", now that's #winning at life for a 66 yo Asthmatic. Now just have to wait and see what is recommended and what the cost will be.But I digress, just completed the workout and once again slight pace and distance improvement. 🙂

I bet you were absolutely beaming when that comment was made! Congratulations on your youth and fitness! I most certainly agree with their assessment there!
That will be good if you get a better prosthetic leg!
My friend had her leg removed due to chronic pain syndrome! She had her stump shortened in October and now getting on much better with her new leg and actually walking with it which is a great improvement for her!
I have been helped by a charity called "Limbpower" they have encouraged me to be more active and to get involved in sport, for fitness they have links to videos on their site, I am due to start on a 12 week online course for fitness with them, and also I'm due to spend a weekend at Stoke Mandeville sports centre with them trying out different sports and meeting a lot of other amps, I went for one day last year and had such a blast, I'm spending the complete weekend this time. Tell your friend about them, they have really helped me.
WOW!!!! Go you!!!! Well done... they know what they are talking about! Hope your new, bit, is not too pricey! x
I can see from your stats on the Garmin app that you’re just getting better and better.. and I’m sure you’ll benefit massively from a new prosthesis!
If you get on well with the new foot, maybe that will persuade your NHS limb centre to prescribe something similar for everyday use 🤞.
Hi Sue your last thought is exactly where my thoughts have been, to show them that age should not enter into the equation.
Is your age the reason your limb centre has given to you for refusing to prescribe a sports leg? If so, that’s outrageous.. as you know I’m the same age as you and I feel like my NHS limb centre has only ever considered how best to increase my level of activity. I suppose like the rest of the NHS it’s dependent on location, funding, and luck., and I’ve been lucky.
They haven't actually said anything about age, except that sports legs are generally only for children on the NHS, also my first prosthetist was a bit stuck in her ways, but since the start of last year have a new young one and she straight away made me a new much better socket and have tried using a lighter pylon to make things better, that's how come I have started running again, also my stump is much more stable now, my centre has only recently caught up with the backlog that was caused due to COVID lockdowns, to be honest they did upgrade my foot to an hydraulic ankle when I asked. At the time I had only had my leg for 6 months and new very little about prosthetics and this one seemed to be the best option for me at the time, I am hoping that this way of doing things I will be able to prove what I need to them .
