Oh FFS!

Sorry about the naughty acronym, but I can't think of anytihng else that sums up just how hacked off I am right now!

So, off I went for my annual 24 blood pressure monitor and results of my annual HbA1C test yesterday thinking nothing could be wrong as I am actually feeling pretty OK at the moment apart from a slightly dicky knee and just starting W5, R1 of C25K....again!

Well, blow me down with a feather, my HbAIC has risen "dramatically" as the nurse put it over the past 12 months, so it's back to the Diabetic Nurse-led Clinic and a review in the Transplant Clinic too in the not too distant future.

Thinking that was it, I then had the bombshell dropped on me that I have also developed labile blood pressure, which is ranging from 70/50mmHg (dangerously low) to 200/108mmHg (dangerously high) and will need hospital investigation for that.

I've been prescribed a CCB, but until I can have a proper review and my BP stablises no running, or even energetic walking, for me. I feel like a time bomb waiting to go off 😬

Not surprised you're hacked off, it puts a real dampner on things. Really hope you get the help, advice and treatment you need. Puts the rest of our everyday woes into perspective.😞

I know the news is a blow and if I were you I would initially be just as fed up, and it's sucky but try and find the bright side (however deep it's buried).

Not finding those potential issues in time to do something about them if necessary would suck more. The bright side is that they found them while you're feeling ok, and can address them calmly.

The no strenuous exercise sucks, but are you allowed to build up strength, hip exercises? calf raises? etc.?

I've been told nothing more than day-to-day activities until my BP stabilises. I have complex medical issues, so I'm a tad different than "Mrs Average" πŸ™„

That just makes you all the more special!

There are some exercises you can do sitting on a chair - especially ankles and feet?

I'm not quite that crippled (yet!) . Just unable to do anything that raises my BP or pulse until the meds settle it down.

Apparently the ABPM logged my max pulse rate at 184bpm when I was out walking the dogs on Tuesday evening 😯 The worrying things is I had no external signs of this pulse rate at all 😳 I was asked if I had palpitations, nausea, dizziness, etc, but not a sausage!

Arrrgh! My friend had the same blood pressure problem, and she is a cyclist. Had just finished training to cycle 400 miles ( the length of Ireland) with her club. Had to put everything on hold too. But, she did get sorted and back at it. You will too, hang in there! ❀

What a shock that must have been you are right to be cross and frustrated. Hopefully the medics will sort you out swiftly and then you can get back to your exercising. In the meantime try to stay positive and relieved that this was found before any major issues developed. You will be back and you will be stronger. Take care and rest well

Sorry to hear about your medical issues. you definitely deserve to be frustrated! It’s hard when you feel okay but your body turns on you like that. It sounds like you thought your only issue was your knee. Good thing if the Diabetic nurses changes to your diet to help your A1C level improve, it will probably result with a little weight loss, which might help your knee be under less strain? Trying to be positive that a little rest for your knee will have you bounce back into your chosen exercise better once you have been cleared to resume your activity of choice. Dr Roy Taylor & the direct study had people just for 8 weeks follow his plan to see if diabetes could be improved. It’s only for 8 weeks but if your A1C is that bad you might wanna consider focusing on that plan for just 8 weeks while running is on hold? Rather disappointing & shocking having those numbers thrown at you but nice that you are still encouraged to be active. Good luck resuming your running!
