As my dear old dad used to say, "It serves you right for living in North Wales." I don't mind the grey, miserable, rainy weather we often get, EXCEPT for when I want to get out for a run.
However, I have been out 3 times since last Saturday - I've managed to (mostly) find the bright spots and, thanks to advice on here, start to enjoy this running lark again. Last Saturday I ran for 10 minutes, then had to stop because my legs felt so stiff. I walked a bit, ran a bit more, then went off my usual path and through the woods, where I had to go slower even than usual, for fear of tripping on the uneven ground. The concentration it took to look at my surroundings so I didn't fall over meant that I finished my run without really even noticing the time, and ran for a total of about 30 minutes, albeit in fits and starts.
I've done two more runs this week. Slowly, with no Strava, no Fitbit, no taking any notice of distance or pace - just a vague eye on the time (and that mostly so I didn't end up too far from home come dusk). I have SO enjoyed these last 2 runs! Wednesday's was bizarrely pleasurable - bizarre because the first 10 minutes (usually the worst) felt effortless. Me! Comfortable running! The next 10 were uncomfortable and the final 10 were OK, although slowing down because I was tired.
I'm planning to get out again today, just hoping for the fog and drizzle to lift ... which might be optimistic 🤣
